AI credits

What uses AI credits, how many each plan includes and what happens when they run out.

Every use of AI consumes credits. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred.

How many credits an action uses depends on how much text the AI processes, so there is no fixed price per action. The recent AI activity shows how many credits each action used.

What uses credits

The recent AI activity in Settings → Billing lists the actions that used credits:

  • Automatic tags and categories
  • Ask
  • Smart search, which is Find in Ask
  • Workspace AI, for example a digest of a workspace

Saving, reading, highlights, keyword search, import and export keep working without AI.

How many credits you get

  • Free: your account gets 200 AI credits once, when you sign up. They do not renew each month.
  • Pro: 2,000 AI credits every month. Each month, counted from the start of your subscription, your balance is set back to 2,000 credits. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month.
  • Pro trial: 500 AI credits once, on top of what you had left, instead of the monthly Pro credits. When the trial ends, your balance is limited to at most 200 credits.

Note: If, when subscribing, you did not ask for Pro to start during the withdrawal period, you receive Pro's AI credits only once the 14-day withdrawal period has ended.

See your balance

  • The credits counter at the top of the screen.
  • The AI credits card on Home.
  • Settings → AI, and Settings → Billing with your recent AI activity.

When credits run out

When your AI credits run out, everything except AI actions keeps working.

  • AI answers in Ask pause.
  • Find uses keyword ranking.
  • Keyword search, reading, highlights, import and export work as before.

On Free, you can try Pro once for 14 days, or upgrade to Pro for a monthly allowance. On Pro, your balance is set back to 2,000 credits at the start of your next subscription month.

Tip: If you switch AI off in Settings → AI, no content is sent to AI providers and no credits are used.
