How Nisaba uses artificial intelligence, which providers process your content and where, and how you can control AI or switch it off.

AI runs on our servers and at the providers named below, not on your device. There are no bring-your-own API keys.

We send only what the task needs. Under OpenAI's API terms, these inputs are not used to train its models. OpenAI may retain API inputs, including images, for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and longer only where the law requires it or it is reasonably necessary to protect OpenAI's services or third parties from harm. OpenAI automatically scans submitted images for child sexual abuse material; an image flagged by this scan is kept by OpenAI for manual review. Because EU data residency is not set up for our OpenAI project, OpenAI may process the data outside the EU through its affiliates and sub-processors, including in the USA. The safeguards described in the privacy policy apply.
Preview images. When a saved page has little readable text, for example because of a sign-in or cookie page, we also send its preview image to OpenAI when we categorize it with AI, so that OpenAI can suggest a category, tags and a short summary from it. This is the image the page names as its preview in its metadata (for example og:image), which our server can download without signing in. It can also come from a page you saved with the browser extension while you were signed in there, so it is not always public. Our server downloads the image, reduces it in size and sends it to OpenAI; we do not store it for this. We never send preview images from X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, Bluesky or YouTube. We do not use images to recognize people or to draw conclusions about people.
TypeSafe. TypeSafe AI, Inc. (model “Jev”) ranks the results when you search your library. For this, TypeSafe receives your search query and the title, address without query string, tags and short summary of the candidate entries. If TypeSafe returns no usable result, OpenAI ranks them. TypeSafe processes the data in the USA and, under its contract terms, does not use it to train models. Zero data retention is agreed with TypeSafe for Nisaba: TypeSafe does not store the data sent, but processes it only to answer the request in question. The transfer is covered by the EU standard contractual clauses in TypeSafe's data processing agreement (see the privacy policy).
Your control
- Switch it off: in the settings you can turn AI off for your account. No content, including preview images, is then sent to AI providers, and all other features remain available. You can also switch off just the sending of preview images there; it is on by default.
- Review: categories and tags are suggestions. You can change or remove them.
- Sources: answers name the saved pages they come from, so you can check them.
- Delete: when you delete content or your account, we also remove the embeddings computed from it.
AI credits
Every use of AI consumes credits. Free includes 200 credits once, at sign-up. They do not renew monthly. Pro includes 2,000 credits per month. The 14-day Pro trial adds 500 credits once, instead of the monthly credits. You can see your balance in the app. When your credits run out, every feature except AI keeps working. Credits have no cash value.
Limits of AI
AI output can be incomplete or wrong, even when it sounds convincing. Answers rely on your saved content, and those pages can themselves be inaccurate. Please check important details at the sources named. Do not rely on AI output for legal, medical or financial decisions.
Transparency
Answers from the assistant and summaries are marked as AI-generated in the app, so you can tell that you are working with an AI system. AI summaries in publicly shared workspaces and their RSS feeds carry the note “AI-generated”. We take no decisions with legal effect solely by automated means and build no profiles for advertising.
