Omnivore alternative: where to move your saved links

The hosted Omnivore app was deprecated in November 2024, and the project is self-hosted now. Nisaba is a hosted alternative with no dedicated Omnivore import: a CSV with url and title columns goes through the Spreadsheet import. Karakeep is a self-hosted option if you want to run the software yourself.

What changed for Omnivore

The README at github.com/omnivore-app/omnivore says the hosted app was deprecated in November 2024 and that Omnivore is now fully self-hosted. You can host it yourself or move to another service.

Move your links into Nisaba

Nisaba has no dedicated Omnivore import. Build a CSV with the columns below and use the Spreadsheet import.

1. 1Make a CSV with a header row and a url column. Add a title column.
2. 2Choose Import in the sidebar and pick Spreadsheet under Where are your bookmarks?
3. 3Drop your file on the page. Files up to 10 MB work. Check how many links were found, then choose Continue to preview.
4. 4Look through the preview, then choose Import. The import runs in the background, so you can keep working.

Recognised columns are url (required), title, note, tags, folder and created. Separate tags with commas and nest folders with a slash, for example Work/Docs. Anything outside those columns is not imported. A minimal file has a header row with url and title, then one link per row, such as https://example.com/guide with the title Setup guide. Leave Skip links that are already saved turned on so a second import adds no copies.

Karakeep and Nisaba

Karakeep: self-hosted is free. Cloud Free has 50 bookmarks and 100 MB. Cloud Pro costs $4 a month or $40 a year and has 50,000 bookmarks, 50 GB, AI tagging and full-text search.

Karakeep suits you if you want to run the software on your own machine. Nisaba suits you if you want a hosted service, and it runs on servers in Germany. Nisaba Free costs €0 with no time limit and includes saving, importing, reading, highlights, keyword search, the mindmap and export, with no limit on bookmarks.

Checked on 1 November 2026 on karakeep.com/pricing and github.com/omnivore-app/omnivore.

Nisaba's limits

• There is no dedicated Omnivore import. The CSV route carries only the columns named above.
• There is no native mobile app yet. The web app works in current browsers on desktop and phones and can be installed as an app.
• The extension is for Chrome only, and Nisaba needs an internet connection.
• Search by meaning and the other AI features use AI credits. Free gives your account 200 AI credits once, when you sign up. AI output can be incomplete or wrong.
